The Carol J. Shapiro Legacy Fund for Water Search Certification was established in March 2025 with a very generous donation of $20,000.
This Legacy Fund was created to thank, in part, the dog handler who attains the specialty water search certification for CARDA, and places their dog into service for the community CARDA serves.
This advanced search certification may take hundreds of hours and miles to train the canine, and the evaluation process is intensive. This fund will try to ameliorate the costs of the successful certification day, or re-certification day, or days, completely for food, lodging and transportation.
